Goa  Â–  A  Great  Place  to  visit  in  India

Goa  Holiday  Packages,  Goa  tourism,  Goa  Tours  India,  Travel  Goa

A  Great  Paradise  for  tourists,  Goa  is  located  on  the  west  coast  of  India  in  the  coastal  belt  known  as  Konkan.  The  magnificent  natural  beauty  and  architectural  splendors  of  its  temples,  churches  and  old  houses  have  made  Goa  a  firm  favourite  with  travellers  around  the  world.

Goa  was  liberated  by  the  Indian  army  from  the  Portuguese  colonization  on  December  19,  1961  and  became  a  union  territory  with  enclaves  of  Daman  and  Diu.  On  30  May  1987  Goa  was  granted  statehood  and  became  the  25th  state  of  the  Republic  of  India.  Having  been  the  meeting  point  of  races,  religions  and  cultures  of  east  and  the  west  over  the  centuries,  Goa  has  a  lifestyle  multi-hued  and  distinctive  very  different  from  the  rest  of  India.

The  warm  and  tolerant  nature  of  the  Goans  allows  them  to  celebrate  and  appreciate  the  various  religious  festivals  such  as  Ganesh  Chaturthi,  Diwali,  Christmas,  Easter  and  identification  with  equal  enthusiasm.  The  state  of  Goa  maharashtra  frames  on  the  north,  the  state  of  Karnataka  on  the  south  and  east.  The  vast  expanse  of  the  Arabian  Sea  on  the  western  forms  the  magnificent  coastline  for  which  Goa  is  simply  famous.  Panaji  (Panjim)  is  the  state  capital  located  on  the  banks  of  the  river  and  the  Mandovi  Vasco,  Margao,  Mapusa  and  Ponda  are  the  other  main  towns.

A  type  bus  network  between  states  and  one  state  to  another  also  plays  an  important  role  in  getting  locals  and  visitors  similar  in  and  around  Goa.

The  staple  food  in  Goa  is  fish  and  rice,  among  Hindus  and  Catholics.  Unlike  the  Christian  food  of  the  Hindu  Goan  food  is  not  strongly  influenced  by  the  Portuguese  cuisine.  Since  the  arrival  of  hippies  in  the'60s,  Goa  was  an  important  destination  on  the  itinerary  of  international  tourists  and  domestic.  The  tourist  season  in  Goa  begins  in  September  and  continues  through  early  -  walking.  The  weather  in  these  months  is  usually  dry  and  pleasantly  fresh.  Then  the  weather  becomes  warm  in  around  May  and  late  June,  Goa  receives  the  full  blast  of  the  Indian  monsoon  with  sudden  floods  and  tropical  storms.  However  it  is  also  during  the  monsoon  that  Goa  is  probably  at  its  most  beautiful,  with  greenery  growing  all  around.
