It is about 25kms from Madikeri. The best time to visit is March and April.
Nagarhole National Park
Among the best game sanctuaries in southern India, the park is home to elephants, tigers, panthers and rhinos. Jeep safaris are available as are elephant rides. These are usually in the early morning or late evening as that is when most animals to come out. Private vehicles are allowed, but they should be accompanied by forest guides. Nagarhole is about 93 km from Madikeri.
Iruppu Falls
It is about 48 km from Virajpet, but involves some hiking. The falls have their origin in the Bramhagiri Range, and plunge down 170 feet in two distinct stages. But beware of leeches. Make sure you are covered up properly and carry some match boxes to remove these creatures from your person, if they happen to latch on.
Harangi
About 36 km from Madikeri, near Kushalnagar, Harangi Reservoir is a popular picnic spot with tree houses.
Kushalnagar
Kushalnagar, which bridges Kodagu and Mysore districts, is an important commercial centre of Kodagu. It's nearness to Hassan and Mysore districts and favourable climate has contributed to its commercial development. Most of the coffee curing works are pooled in and around Kushalnagar. Kushalnagar which is situated 34 Kms. from Madikeri is one of the attractive tourist centres of Kodagu. The rehabilitation centre for Tibetan refugees, Kaveri Nisargadhama, Dubare forest, Harangi Dam are the main tourist attractions.
Talacauvery
Tala Cauvery is the birth place of the sacred river Cauvery. It is situated on the slopes of the Brahmagiri hills and can be reached by motorable road, from Bhagamandala, which is at a distance of about five miles. These temples are dedicated to Eshwara and Ganapati at the source of the river. After reaching the source of Cauvery, many people venture a climb of about 300 feet to the summit of the Brahmagiri peak where, it is said that seven great sages meditated. Apart, from its great importance as a centre of pilgrimage, Tala Cauvery is an ideal place for a visit by the tourists for its natural beauty and extremely picturesque land scape.
Valanoor
It is the backwaters of the river Cuavery located about 30 kms from Madekeri. This place is a perfect angling destination of Karnataka. Exquisite variety of fishes are found here which are worth a catch. Golden Masheer, Maral amd Maap are few fishes that are found here.
