Delhi is the epitome of India. Delhi is not just
the capital city but also the heart of the country. Delhi has been the capital of the country for
umpteenth number of years and will remain so in the years to come.
The history of Delhi dates back to the time of
Pandavas. According to Indian legends, the city Delhi was called by the name of
Indraprastha. It was full of riches and Pandavas used to inhabit this land.
Hindu texts state that Delhi was earlier referred to as Hastinapur in Sanskrit
language, which means “elephant city.”
The Indian capital city has a long history. It had been the capital of numerous empires. Many kings had ruled the land from the time Delhi became the capital of India. After the first war of independence, Calcutta was asserted to be the capital of India but in the year 1911, Delhi was again made the capital of the country.
