For customary shopping Leh has a number of souks. For gift objects and mementos the travelers at Leh can check out the Ladakh Art Place in the old town. Then there is the Ecology Center and a number of shops at the back of the Main Bazaar Road. During the Ladakh festival, the tourists can pick up local handicrafts and captivating clothes. Shopping is an electrifying experience in Leh. One can shop for turquoise and silver jewellery that come from Tibet and Burma. Main Market in Leh is a superb place to shop.
Tibetan Refugee Market on Old Leh Road is one more idyllic place for shopping in Leh. Painted masks, hand-knitted woolens, and jewellery made from semi-precious stones or fake stones make good gifts. And don’t forget apricot oil that the locals say is a potent pain reliever. Tibetan Market off Old Leh Road and Moti Market near the bus stand are the shopping hubs. Recommended shops are Ladakh Art Palace and Tibetan Handicraft Emporium on the Main Bazaar Road; Tibetan Handicraft Community Showroom in Choglamsar ; Cottage Industries Exposition, Ecology Centre and Women's Alliance in Changspa.
