The main language spoken in the region is Tamil. Then there is a small percentage of the population, which speaks Malayalam and Kannada. The educated folks of the city prefer to speak English language. English is also the official language of the city. A certain amount of people also speaks Hindi. Then there are few people speaking Badaga language.
