The crisp lacy appam served with meat or vegetable stew is a must try. For breakfast, there's a variety to choose from. Vellayappam, puttu, appams (different forms of rice preparation). Another must try item is Kerala's hot red fish (meen in Malayalam) curry with steamed tapioca (kappa in Malayalam). For desert the local `payasam', a milk delicacy prepared with gram or rice.
